Bring on Brazil for our South African Champions! August 08 2018
Our South African National Cup Tasters and Latte Art Champ, Donovan McLagan and Christopher Abrahams, will both be heading to International Coffee Week in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in November. They are both charging ahead with preparations.
We are hoping that they will place well this year, but more importantly that they come back fired up and excited to share the knowledge they have gained on the World stage with their fellow coffee professionals at home.
The 2018 World Brewers Cup (WBrC) and World Cup Tasters Championship (WCTC) are moving to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, joining the World Latte Art Championship and World Coffee In Good Spirits Championship at International Coffee Week (ICW), the 7th-9th of November.
National coffee champions from over 40 countries will attend ICW to compete in the four world championships. The World Brewers Cup is the premier event for manual coffee brewing; the World Cup Taster Championship pits coffee cuppers (tasters) against each other in lightning fast rounds; the World Latte Art Championship celebrates artistry with espresso and milk; and the World Coffee In Good Spirits Championship recognizes the combination of coffee and alcohol. Get tickets to see them live for yourself at the ICW website, or tune in during the event for live video streams of each championship at the WCE website brazil.worldcoffeeevents.orgwhere you will also be able to find more schedules, news, and competitor profiles as they become available.
The 2018 World Coffee Roasting Championship will also be moving to a new location, given the recent announcement from the Specialty Coffee Association, with details to be shared as soon as they are finalized—more details can be found in the release here.
The World Coffee Championships bring together a community of passionate coffee people from across the globe, gathering to compete as equals and show the world what the heights of coffee professionalism can be.
